Purpose
The purpose of this coalition is to bring people together to transform how safety is created. Safety is defined by relationships, belonging, and shared power to create a world where everyone’s needs are met.We draw strength from our history—not just the harms inflicted but more so from the enduring struggles for liberation, rooted in the collective care and solidarity that have propelled us forward. When we observe our true history, we are awakened by a simple, yet powerful truth:
We KNOW what keeps us safe.
Shared ValuesThis coalition is informed by the following:
Equity and Inclusion: Prioritize funding for BIPOC-led organizations and autonomous groups and projects that address systemic inequalities.
Community Empowerment: Support initiatives that empower marginalized and underrepresented local communities.
Transparency and Accountability: Maintain a transparent, non-hierarchical decision making process and uphold accountability to the communities we serve.
Sustainability and Impact: Focus on projects that show potential for long-term positive impact and sustainability.
Community AgreementsNo Tolerance for White Supremacy –We will have no tolerance for discrimination, racism, transphobia, homophobia, patriarchy, misogyny or bigotry. We are an inclusive space.
Value and Respect – Differences are to be expected. Respecting and noticing the value of different viewpoints. Be open to listening, giving others time to respond and process what is offered. Making sure that we are practicing and creating a space where there is a sense of inclusion and belonging. Actively check in on each other’s humanity.
Be Direct and Name Your Truth – Be authentic. Be intentional. Be honest and transparent.
Stay Curious – Lean into curiosity. Do not make assumptions, ask for clarity. Don’t lean into judgment, receive things at face value, do not create narratives or assumptions but rather ask for clarity.
Expansion – While naming and honoring the current and historical truths of this work, embrace not having an answer or not knowing something as valuable and generative. Not knowing is a reality and a fact. Not knowing is also liberating and allows us to be expansive and innovative.
